I joined on the data team. Today I help run operations across the whole company. At Rundoo, you grow beyond where you started.
An unexpected path
Before Rundoo, I worked as an engineer in the MEPFS industry. It was a completely different world from technology startups, but it taught me something that still helps me every day: details matter.
I had always been curious about coding, computers, and how things work inside startups — the building, the problem-solving, and everything happening behind the scenes. That curiosity is what led me to apply to Rundoo in the first place, even though the role I applied for wasn't directly in that space. I just wanted a front-row seat to how it all worked.
When I joined Rundoo, I didn't start on the operations team — I started on the data team, working directly on customer data migrations. Our job was to help businesses move from their existing POS systems to Rundoo, making sure large amounts of critical business data were transferred accurately and safely so clients could keep running their operations without disruption.
It took a lot of accuracy, problem-solving, and collaboration across teams. Every system was different, every dataset had its own quirks, and every migration mattered because it affected a real business trusting us with their data. That foundation shaped how I think about operations today.
Finding where I could make the biggest impact
One thing I quickly learned about startups is that impact matters more than job titles.
As the company grew, I started taking on operational projects outside my original role as data lead, and found myself increasingly pulled into operations work. Over time, I realized I could create more impact in operations while still using the same attention to detail and problem-solving mindset I'd built in data.
I was drawn to problems that cut across the business — supporting recruiting efforts, coordinating internship programs, helping new employees get set up, and improving processes. I enjoyed building systems, big or small, that helped other people do their best work, while learning a ton from the people I worked with. Operations gave me the chance to contribute across the entire company instead of within a single function. That was where I knew I could make the biggest difference.
Growing alongside the company
Over time, my responsibilities expanded alongside Rundoo's growth.
Operations isn't about a world where nothing goes wrong. It's about responding when things do — figuring out what happened, coordinating the right people, and getting things back on track quickly. And often, the most valuable work is spotting early signals before small issues turn into bigger ones. Many of the best operational wins are invisible: a problem gets solved before it grows, a process improves, a team gets the support it needs. The work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt across the company.
Early this year, I had the chance to become a manager. For me, the promotion represented more than a title change — it reflected the trust that had been built over years of taking ownership, solving problems, and supporting the people around me. One of the things I appreciate most about Rundoo is that growth isn't limited by where you started. I joined on the data team; today, I help support operations across the entire organization. That kind of opportunity is rare.
What makes Rundoo different
If you had told me, back when I was working as an engineer, that one day I'd be an Ops Manager at a tech company halfway around the world, I wouldn't have believed you. If you'd told me I'd be excited to start work most mornings, I definitely wouldn't have believed you. Yet somehow that's exactly where I ended up.
What makes that possible isn't a title or a promotion. It's being surrounded by people who genuinely care about what they're building and who trust each other to take ownership. I've been given opportunities I never expected when I first joined, and I've grown more than I thought I would along the way. My path wasn't something I planned — it became possible because people were willing to invest in me and give me the chance to take on new challenges.
What I'm most proud of isn't a specific project or process — it's being part of a team that genuinely cares about the people we work with and the businesses we serve. If you're willing to learn, work hard, and take ownership, you'll be given the chance to grow beyond the role you were originally hired for. That's what makes Rundoo special.
If you're someone who likes solving problems, taking ownership, and helping build something meaningful, you'll find plenty of opportunities here.
