From paint to lumber to flooring, over 200,000 such stores across the country sell over $1T of building materials annually using outdated, on-premises systems. Key Responsibilities 📋

A. Finance Tasks

💰 Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process and track invoices, bills, and vendor payments.

  • Issue invoices to clients and follow up on outstanding balances.

  • Maintain accurate AP/AR records and aging reports.

🧾 Expense Management

  • Review, categorize, and approve employee expenses.

  • Enforce expense policies and flag discrepancies or policy violations.

  • Prepare monthly expense summaries for leadership.

🏦 Payroll & Compliance Support

  • Assist with payroll preparation and verification.

  • Maintain financial documentation for audits and compliance.

  • Coordinate with external accountants, payroll providers, or tax professionals as needed.

B. General Virtual Assistant Tasks

📧 Email Management

  • Organize and respond to emails, flagging high-priority items.

📆 Calendar Coordination

  • Schedule meetings and appointments, ensuring no conflicts.

📝 Document Preparation

  • Draft, edit, and format documents or presentations.

🔍 Research

  • Conduct ad hoc research tasks and compile data for decision-making.

🛠️ General Administrative Support

  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks as needed to support the team.

Work Schedule 📈

  • Hours

    • 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM Philippine Time, Tuesday to Saturday.

  • 🌙 Occasional Night Calls

    • Some tasks may require 15 minute calls during US working hours.


Compensation and Benefits

  • 💰 Compensation

    • $700/month

  • 📝 Independent Contractor

    • You are registered with the BIR as an independent contractor and you will be responsible for filing and paying your own taxes.

  • 🍽️ Monthly dinners

    • Alabang/BGC area.

  • 📚 Unlimited audiobooks

    • via our team subscription to Libro.

  • 🛑 Other benefits below are not included

    • As an independent contractor, you are not eligible for benefits.


Requirements 🔍

  • 📚 You hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline.

  • Be located in Metro Manila or surrounding locations (Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan)

  • 📊 Proven experience in operations or recruiting.

  • 🛠️ Proficiency in tools such as Salesforce, Google Sheets, and LinkedIn Recruiter.

  • 🎯 Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

  • 💻 Equipment

    • Must provide your own computer/laptop and other necessary equipment.

  • 🌐 Internet

    • Must have a reliable internet connection suitable for remote work and virtual meetings.


Interview Process ✍️

  1. Screening Call (20 minutes): 📞 A screening call with Amanda, to get to know one another.

  2. Interview (30 minutes): 💻 A remote interview with Sydney, to learn about your background, aspirations, and alignment with company values.

  3. Homework Assignment (1-hour): 📝 Instructions for the task will be sent after the first interview

  4. On-Site Interview (1 hour): 🏢 An in-person interview with Amanda focusing on your ability to learn quickly.

  5. Reference Check: ✅ Provide two substantial references for evaluation.

Amanda (Head of Recruiting & Operations) - Studied Marketing at DLSU; recruited for a couple of Bay Area startups; loves hiking & scuba diving!

Operations

  • Angie (Operations) - Studied Financial Management at Far Eastern University and have spent almost a decade working with both local and multinational companies. Loves travelling to new places and trying new things.

  • Sydney (Operations) - Engineering grad from La Salle who tinkered with building hydraulics, solves diff Rubik’s for fun, and devours dystopian novels.

About our founders 🌲

  1. Andrew (CTO): studied computer science & humanities at Stanford; worked as a software engineer and head of engineering at Apple & Anova; danced with the SF ballet (where he met his wife)! 🩰

  2. Nick (CEO): studied math & computer science at Stanford; worked as a trader at Bridgewater & Citadel and as a PM at Google & Enigma; distantly related to the founder of the Hershey company 🍫

  1. A $2m pre-seed led by Kent Bennett at Bessemer with participation from Plug & Play, Quiet Capital, and Sequoia.

  2. A $5m seed led by Caitlin Bolnick Rellas at CRV.
